Alan Fletcher

I know this may be a little late, but I only just found this article by Michael Bierut about Alan Fletcher, and I thought it was something worth sharing, the last paragraph in particular. Also if you haven't been to the design museum's Alan Fletcher exhibition, I really recommend it, I thought it was really good, especially the videos, they give you a glimpse at the way he lived his life.

Also thought I'd say Merry Christmas, I may not be posting too much in the next few days - but will try and make a real go of this blog in 2007!

Ms Dewey

I just thought i'd share something with everyone. A couple of days across I found something that pushes HCI beyond whats already out there, and I think its really exciting. The thing in question is Ms. Dewey. Its as search engine from Microsoft, that, I basically just think is really cool. Also, try typing in the name of some of their competitors, it's interesting!

New Route?

As student rep, I have been given our end of year show to organise. While this may have seemed obvious, it was something that I worryingly overlooked when accepting the position. As the first term went on however, I think I got better at organising the efforts of the rest of the year, though hopefully next term will be a lot better! Our aim is to have two routemasters, stripped out, and full of our work (and complimentary food and drink). They will swap round during the day, one staying stationary, and the other driving around London in an attempt to get designers and advertisers to come on board, have a chat and look at our work - hopefully leading to job offers. I was just wondering if anyone had any views on this? Any suggestions?
(The image is from flickr - from boxley - if you want me to remove it then just ask)

Happy Land

A few weeks ago, we had students over from NAFA in Singapore, and at the end of their stay, they had to pleasure to work with us on a two day brief. We were in groups of about 5 or 6, each with at least two of the NAFA students, each group with a different brief. While all the briefs were quite fun, we had quite possible the best one, trying to promote a lifestyle of hooliganism. As you can see from the images, we had some fun! We decided that the best way to shock people into violence would be to try and surround them by happiness, which was aided by our scented wallpaper and happy soundtrack.

Start of something special...

...or at least I hope it is. To start with, I'd just like to say that this blog will hopefully become a place where designers, students and professionals alike can come together and share their thoughts on anything really (I like to aim high). I hope to have updates quite regularly, although it probably won't be on a daily basis. And with that totally noncommittal first entry, off I go!
